Ghangapatna land scam: Odisha govt suspends RI, clerk

The Odisha government today suspended two employees of the state Revenue department in connection with the illegal construction of road along the minor forest land in Ghangapatna area under Chandaka tehsil on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The Khordha district collector Niranjan Sahu said, Revenue Inspector, Paikarapur Basant Kumar Swain and clerk of Khordha sub collector’s office Niranjan Das have been placed under suspension.

He also said that the Bhubaneswar tehsildar has lodged an FIR against two persons- Mahendra Dehuri and Susant Behera – with the Chandaka police station in this connection.

“We are verifying the official records to ascertain the involvement of others in the incident and appropriate action would be taken against them if they are found guilty”, Sahu said.

Besides, the FIR has also requested the police to investigate the involvement of others involved in the illegal construction of road in this area, he added.
