Girl students walk 12 km in Odisha’s Nabarangpur to meet collector. Know why

Nabarangpur: As many as 51 class-X students of Bhatarasiuni girls’ high school in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district today walked 12 km to meet the Collector demanding filling up of vacant post of teachers in the school.

According to reports, the students have been facing inconvenience in their studies due to non-availability of science and geography teachers in the school. They had earlier raised the issue several times but in vain.

The girl students have also alleged of water entering into their classroom during rainy days.

In a bid to have quick solution to their problems, the students this morning walked about 12 km to reach the Nabarangpur Collectorate to meet the collector and present their demands.

Though they were unable to meet the official, District Welfare Officer (DWO) Pabitra Mohan Pradhan assured them of immediate recruitment of a science teacher following which they returned.
