Global meet on translational research begins at Odisha’s KIIT varsity

The Indian Society for Translational Research (ISTR) is going to play a crucial role for translating laboratory research for the benefit of the human society in the field of health, agriculture, environment and food, opined experts at the first international conference on ‘Translational Research: From Basic Science to Clinical Application’, which began at KIIT University in the Odisha capital today.

The three-day conference is being organized by School of Biotechnology of KIIT University along with Indian Society for Translational Research, New Delhi, National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune; Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) Bhubaneswar and KIIT Technology Business Incubator.

“This conference is being organized considering the importance of Translational Research during last several years at national and international levels,” said former DG of ICMR and the President of Indian Society for Translational Research NK Ganguly while inaugurating the conference.

The conference will highlight some of the promising research focusing on areas from pre-translational to translational application while the symposium will comprise scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations.

On the first day of the conference, several eminent speakers, Padmabhushan Asis Datta, Padmashri D Balasubramanian, Dev Mukhpadhyay from Mayo Clinic, USA, Tapas Kundu from JNCASR Bangalore delivered their talks.

Among others, founder KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta, GC Kundu, eminent scientist from NCCS, Pune and organizing secretary of the conference; Prof PP Mathur, VC, KIIT University; Dr M Suar, Director of KIIT School of Biotechnology and Dr Srinivas Patnaik, co-organizing secretary, also spoke on the occasion.

Founded in 2014, ISTR, with its headquarters at National Cell Science Center, Pune, is being spearheaded by eminent scientist NK Ganguly.
