Gold worth nearly Rs 20 lakh, Rs 1.4 lakh cash looted from jewellery shop in Berhampur

Berhampur: In a major heist, unidentified miscreants broke into a jewellery shop and looted cash amounting to Rs 1.4 lakh and gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 20 lakh in Bada Bazar area here last night.

According to reports, the miscreants entered the shop by breaking its door on the terrace and went to the cash counter by breaking another door. They looted cash worth Rs 1.4 lakh and 400 gram gold jewellery kept in the cash counter, informed shop owner Satyanaryan Senapati.

On receiving the information, a police team headed by Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra reached the spot and began investigation.

CCTV footage collected from the shop will help the cops identify the miscreants, police sources said.
