Good news for frequent flyers! Flight services from Jeypore airstrip from June

Jeypore: The Jeypore airstrip in Odisha’s Koraput district is all set to commence its flight operations from June this year with a five-member team visited the site for an inspection today.

Reportedly, the team of experts headed by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) Regional Director KK Jha reached the site on a special flight from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at around 10 am.

After a discussion with the district administration, including Sub-Collector Bedabara Pradhan and SP Varun Guntupalli, the team reviewed security arrangements at the airstrip. The official also had a discussion on other requirements for the airstrip and prepared a report on the same. They also asked Works officials to complete the constriction of the airstrip forthwith to ensure commencement of flight services in June.

“The team inspected functioning of several machineries, including X-ray scanner, baggage scanner, CCTV, door frame metal detector, handheld metal detector and Walkie-Talkie. The official also reviewed public information systems to be made available for the passengers at the airstrip. This apart, discussion on deployment of security personnel and parking facility was also held,” said an official.

The Works officials have been directed to ensure completion of construction of terminal building, six quarters and approach roads  in next 15 days, the official added.

“All works of the airstrip is underway in full swing and are expected to be over soon. The inspection was conducted as per the Centre’s guidelines and the report will be submitted to the Government,” said the Regional Director of BCAS.
