Bhubaneswar,July 30: With the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), deciding to conduct its admissions on regional basis, more Odias can now look forward to joining the premier travel and tourism institute in the country.

Though the eastern regional centre of IITTM has been functioning at Dumduma here since 1996, the entire admission process was so far conducted centrally from its headquarters in Gwalior, making it difficult for Odias to get into the institute. The Bhubaneswar centre has been offering post graduation diploma in management (PGDM) courses in Tourism & Travel Management and International Business (Tourism & Logistics). But once the admission is done on a regional basis, more Odias can expect to qualify for the 93 seats in the PGDM courses in the two disciplines, sources said.

The eastern regional centre here covers the state Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Island.

Dr. Sarat Kumar Lenka, Nodal Officer of the institute, today said admissions for PGDM courses in ‘Travel & Tour Management’ and ‘International Business management’ are now open. The students can apply for the two courses by following the instructions given in our official website www.iittmb.in, he said. “The offered courses are tailored to the needs of the industry and students can have exposure to practical training on stipend/salary basis within the course curriculum through on-field assistance to industry experts. The Institute also offers a 10-day practical orientation on Adventure Tour Programme in association with the Directorate of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali”, he said.

It should be noted that the Bhubaneswar centre of the prestigious national institute is the second oldest after its head office at Gwalior.
