Goods train derails in Odisha

Chhatrapur, July 31:

Train services were disrupted in the Chhatrapur-Ganjam route in Odisha’s Ganjam district following the derailment of a goods train this morning.

According to reports, a coal-laden goods train was on its way from Talcher to Seemadhri when one of its wagons slipped off the track near Jagannathpur between Chhatrapur and Ganjam.

As a result, train services in this track have been disrupted.

Till reports last came in, the Howrah-Madras Mail has been detained at Chhatrapur railway station.

Meanwhile, senior officials and engineers of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) have rushed to the spot.

Efforts are on to clear the tracks for normalization of train services in this route, the railway officials said.
