Raj Bhavan sources told IANS here that Vohra has written separate letters to the PDP and the BJP to come forward for discussions to explore possibilities of government formation.

On the precedent that the governor should normally invited only the PDP which emerged as the single-largest party in the state with 28 seats in the 87-member assembly, Raj Bhavan sources said since the BJP has claimed it has the support of six out of seven independent candidates who won elections here, it became necessary for Vohra to invite both parties for discussion.

The BJP came second with 25 seats. The National Conference won 15, the Congress 12 and Independents number seven.

With the letters being sent, it is believed the process of government formation would be sped up in coming days.

The term of the outgoing state assembly ends on Jan 16. (IANS)
