Govt employee found hanging near river in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, the body of a government employee was found hanging from a tree in Champua block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district here today. The deceased was identified as Ramakrishna Singh, a junior engineer working with the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Division here. He was a native of Jayantinapur village in the block.
While the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, sources said Singh had gone out on Sunday morning from the government quarters in Champua and did not return home. Family members launched a frantic search but could not trace his whereabouts as he had left his mobile phone at home. He was later found hanging from a tree on the banks of Baitarani river. His bike and helmet were seen lying nearby. Locals spotted the body and informed police who arrived at the spot.
Official sources said the cause of death will be established after the postmortem report arrives. A case of un-natural death has been registered and further investigation is underway.
