Govt extends MoU validity of five power projects by two years

OST Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Jan 29:

The state government has extended the validity of the memoranda of understanding (MoU) signed with five companies for setting up of power projects in the state by another two years.
The Energy department has entered into MoUs for extension of the power projects for two years. The projects include NSL Nagapatnam and Infratech, Maa Durga Thermal Power Company, Visaka Thermal Power, Ind Barath Energy (Utkal) and Monnet Power Energy.
The government has extended the validity based on the recommendation of IPICOL, which had assessed financial and physical progress of these companies. The progress report was placed in the energy task force meeting, which took the decision.
However, the projects are likely to face coal shortage as many coal blocks allocated to these companies are all set to be cancelled by the Coal Ministry following delay in developing the coal blocks, said sources.
