Govt slashes landing charges to boost air connectivity in state

OST Bureau

Bhubaneswar, Oct 29:

To boost air services within the state, the Odisha government has notified a drastic cut in landing and night parking charges for private aircraft operators.

The landing charges for private air carriers have been slashed from Rs 5,000 to Rs 400. Similarly, night parking charges of Rs 2, 500 have now been completely waived, said a notification issued by the General Administration department on Monday.

The notification has been made in view of the increased demand for air connectivity within the state as it had attracted a host of investment proposals from steel, mining, power and IT sectors.

Some private carriers have already submitted proposals to start air services from Bhubaneswar to important commercial destinations within Odisha.

The government had, in the recent past, sought support from corporate houses for low cost, intra-state flights proposed by Air Odisha Aviation Pvt Ltd.

Air Odisha has already obtained no objection certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for running non-scheduled air operations.
