Govt to provide cancer treatment facilities in five districts

The Odisha government has decided to provide facilities for prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer at five district headquarters hospitals (DHHs) in Nuapada, Koraput, Balangir, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).

Modern equipment to conduct tests like PAP Simmer, VIAFNAC, Scrap Citology and Calscopy have already been installed in these hospitals, health and family welfare minister Dr Damodar Rout said here on Wednesday.

He said the facilities would be made available in the remaining districts in a phased manner.
