Gram Rojgar Sevak caught taking Rs 10k bribe in Odisha

Balasore: A Gram Rojgar Sevak was caught red-handed by the Vigilance while taking bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a rural housing scheme beneficiary in Balasore district.

The Vigilance sleuths of Balasore Division today caught Hemanta Kumar Padhiary, the Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Durgadevi Gram Panchayat under Remuna Block in Balasore district, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Purna Chandra Bindhani, a resident of Nuahat area in Mayurbhanj district, for submission of completion report of a house allotted in favour of the complainant’s father under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

The Vigilance officials had laid a trap to catch the tainted GRS following a complaint lodged by Bindhani.

The officials of anti-corruption wing also seized the bribe amount from possession of the accused person.

In this connection, a vigilance case has been registered under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018.
