Group clash erupts at Remuna Mahotsav in Odisha, Sec 144 imposed

Balasore: Tension gripped the spot of Remuna Mahotsav in Odisha’s Balasore district last night after a clash erupted between two groups which left at least ten persons injured.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC was clamped at the place after the clash. Police forces have been deployed at the spot to avoid further untoward incident.

According to reports, some youths of nearby Ginipur village were managing a paid parking lot at the festival during which an argument ensued between them and several youths of Mandarpur village.

It soon took an ugly turn as youths of the two groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, as a result of which ten of them sustained injuries. Police resorted to lathi charge to take the situation under control. Later, Section 144 was imposed.

The injured ones have been admitted to the Remuna community health centre for treatment. On the other hand, police have ordered closure of shops and markets from Gopinath Temple area to Remuna, as a part of precautionary measure.
