Group clash over bursting firecrackers on Diwali kills man in Odisha’s Nayagarh
Nayagarh: A group clash over bursting firecrackers on Diwali killed a man at Madhyakhand village under Daspalla police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district, last night.
The deceased was identified as Vikash Behera. Around 15 criminal cases were pending against him at various police stations.
According to reports, Behera and his friends were bursting firecrackers when a group of men objected the act. A heated exchange of words ensued between the two groups over the matter, which later took a violent turn in the form of a clash.
Behera was attacked with knife during the fight. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
