GST raids underway at five furniture showrooms in Twin City

Bhubaneswar: The CT and GST Enforcement wing today conducted simultaneous raids on the business premises of five furniture showrooms at various places in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on charges of large-scale tax evasion.

Eight teams comprising around 40 officers belonging to different enforcement units of the state carried out the search drive at business premises and godowns of four firms in Bhubaneswar–Chirag Industries at Puri Bypass road near Kesura Road, Basudev Woods Private Limited at Mancheswar Industrial Estate, Patro Agency at Lingipur in Sisupalagarh and Furniture Godown at Rasulgarh here. The GST team also raided Vintage Furniture showroom in Jagatpur area of Cuttack on similar charges.

During the search drive, the officials detected large scale irregularities in the stock.

In Rourkela, two GST teams comprising nine members raided Ashoka Brothers furniture showroom and its godown in Uditnagar on charges of not issuing false invoices.
