Gun attack on Health Minister Naba Das: Accused police ASI suffering from mental illness, claims wife

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police ASI Gopal Das, who opened fire at Health Minister Naba Das at Brajarajnagar today, has been reportedly suffering from some mental illness for last few years.

This was revealed by the accused cop’s wife Jayanti Das, who claimed that she came to know about the incident from TV channels.

“I have no idea as to why my husband opened fire on the minister. He had made a video call to our daughter in the morning. But he discontinued the call after a few seconds,” claimed Jayanti.

Jayanti claimed that Gopal has been suffering from some mental illness for last seven to eight years and the cop is under medication.

“He was taking medicines and behaving like a normal person. He never harmed anybody. He had visited his native village four or five months ago,” Jayanti said.
