Hardcore Maoist nabbed in Odisha

Malkangiri, Aug 13:

The BSF personnel today handed over a hardcore Maoist, who was nabbed on Tuesday, to the Malkangiri district police here.

According to reports, acting on a tip-off from the BSF intelligence wing of the 33 Battalion at MV-88 village, the BSF team had conducted a combing operation in the nearby forest area on Tuesday morning.

During the operation, the Central forces nabbed the Maoist while he was trying to escape from his house at Tagorkota village under Motu police station limits.

The BSF personnel later seized a 303 rifle from his possession.

The arrested Maoist, identified as Singa Kotam, was handed over to the Malkangiri police this morning.

According to police, Singa was an active member of Kalimela Dalam and working as a body guard of top Maoist leader and secretary of Malkangiri Divisional Committee, Udaya.

He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head.

Interrogation of the arrested Maoist was on, police said.
