Hardcore Maoist surrenders before police in Odisha

Kandhamal: Hardcore Maoist Bharat Kanhar carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh surrendered before the Kandhamal police yesterday .

After surrendering before SP Pratik Singh, Kanhar, who was an active member of Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of CPI (Maoist), said he was unhappy with the operation of the Maoist outfit for which he decided to shun violence and join the mainstream.

As per reports, Kanhar was involved in several crimes, including murder.

Meanwhile, the district police has assured him of all kind of assistance under rehabilitation scheme of the Odisha Government for surrendered Maoists.
