HC bench demand: Bandh called in Odisha’s Balangir till Dec 30

Balangir: Demand for the establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Balangir intensified with the Joint Action Committee and the District Bar Association calling for a bandh here from today till December 30.

Members of the association have further decided to resort to picketing and closure of all offices, educational institutions and banks in the district during the period.

The Joint Action Committee and the District Bar Association have been shutting down the Collector’s office and Tehsil offices in the district since December 3 to press their demands. The agitation has received support from around 300 organisations in Balangir.

The agitators have threatened to intensify their agitation in the case of non-fulfillment of their demands.
