The Central Action Committee (CAC) of agitating western Odisha lawyers which met in Boudh today welcomed chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s letter of recommendation to Union Law minister in favour of two high court benches in western and southern Odisha and decided to suspend their indefinite agitation but said boycott of courts on the last three days of every month will continue till the bench is finally established.

The president of Koraput Bar Association Nihar Patnaik said Koraput deserves a permanent HC bench for the benefit of the poor litigants and common men of the scheduled area that has been subjected to long neglect in every sphere.

However, the High Court Bar Association has expressed shock and surprise over the haste with which the chief minister recommended the creation of two benches of the high court. Decrying the move the Association leaders said they will be meeting at 10 am on Monday to decide on their future course of action.
