Deposing before the Commission, representatives of Koraput and Kalahandi district bar associations argued that their regions fulfill all the criteria to have the Benches.

Sources in the Commission’s office said that the members of Rourkela and Mayurbhanj Bar associations would depose on Saturday.

Though the Commission has received about 100 affidavits from several bars and eminent persons, it is likely to record depositions of a few witnesses and submit its report by October-end.

The tenure of the Commission, set up in January 2008, has been extended 10 times each for six months. Last time its tenure was extended in June this year.

However, looking at the ongoing agitations in the western, central and southern districts demanding HC benches, the state government has requested the Commission to submit its report by October this year.
