HC lawyer awarded Sevashree Samman

Well-known lawyer of the Odisha High Court Nishikanta Mishra was awarded the Seva Shree Samman by the All India Economic Survey Award Council in recognition of his contribution to raising social issues in the field of judiciary and seeking to remove social maladies.

Mishra was presented with the award by former Odisha Governor MC Bhandare and former Acting Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court IM Qudussi at a function in New Delhi on Sunday.

A strong votary of social justice, Mishra has filed a number of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) pertaining to social issues. He has also ensured justice for many poor and downtrodden by making applications before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

Prior to this award, Mishra had earlier received the Seva Chakra award from the Council.
