Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has finally cracked the sensational incident surrounding the recovery of a headless woman’s body in the state capital.
At a Presser, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi today revealed that marital dispute was the reason behind the brutal murder of the woman identified as Puspalata Roul (28), a resident of Ganjam district. She was staying in Dhirkuti Basti under Mancheswar police station here.
The senior cop said after death of her husband, Puspalata came in contact with one Sanajy Angat Das, who was staying in her house on rent for six years. Later, she shifted to Tarini Basti before coming back to Sanjay. However, she got marred to another person identified as Preeti Ranjan on December 24 and stayed with him in Chakeisiani area here. Few days after, she again came back to Sanjay and was staying with him for the last one month.
On January 3, Sanajy strangled Puspalata to death following an altercation over the marital dispute. Later, he called up his friend Chandu, a resident of Huma area of Ganjam district, to help him dump the body. They later collected a surgical gloves and knife from Aiginia market. After beheading her with the knife, Sanajy with the help of his friend dumped the severed head at elephant trench in Chandaka and body in a bush along the Bharatpur-Chandaka road. The two accused later went absconding and were hiding in Daspalla area in Nayagarh district.
“On February 9, we received a genuine call and got vital leads in connection with the incident. Based on the information, we proceeded with the investigation. The head and mobile phone of the deceased have been recovered. Both accused will be produced before court tomorrow,” said the CP.
