Heat unabated in west, interior Odisha, Norwesters likely in 24 hrs

While most parts of west and interior districts of Odisha reeled under intense heat wave condition today, the Met department predicted Norwesters in some places of the state in the next 24 hours.Weather

The Met office in its latest bulletin has warned of Norwesters or thunderstorms at some places in the north and south districts and in some parts of the coastal belt during the next 24 hours.

Briefing the media, Prabir Kumar Bal, duty officer of the local Met office here, said there is a trough line stretching from Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand up to the south Odisha districts while a cyclonic ring has been formed over Mayurbhanj.

“Under the influence, there is possibility of hail and thunderstorm at some places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Malkangiri districts and at some places in the coastal districts with wind speed of 50-60 kmph during the next 24 hours”, he said.

Talcher, Bhawanipatna and Sonepur were the hottest places with 41.5 degree Celsius each, while temperature rose to 40 degree and above in Bhubaneswar (40.4), Sundargarh 40 and Titlagarh (40.5).

In Bhubaneswar. high humidity levels added to the discomfort.

Besides, temperature almost touched 40 degree mark in Chandbali (39.9), Angul (39.7), Jharsuguda (39.1), Sambalpur (39), Hirakud (39), Malkangiri (39.2) and Dhenkanal (39.9).
