Heat wave intensifies in Odisha; Jharsuguda boils at 44

Bhubaneswar, May 9:

With most parts of western and interior South Odisha coming under intense heat wave today, the Met department has predicted that the there would be no change in the weather condition till next week.

“Barring rain or thundershower at one or two places, there is no possibility of any major change in the weather condition as the sky would remain clear due to blowing of hot westerly wind,” the department said in a release here this evening.

While Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature of the day with 44 degree Celsius, mercury touched 40 degrees and above at Chandbali (40.2), Angul (43.1), Keonjhar (40), Sambalpur (42.5), Sundargarh (40.5), Hirakud (42.7), Talcher (43.6), Bhawanipatna (41.5), Bolangir (42) and Titlagarh (41.5).

Besides, temperature hovered around 40 degrees at Cuttack (38), Bhubaneswar (39.2), Phulbani (39.5), Malkangiri (39) and Sonepur (39).
