Heavy rain: One killed, 2 injured in wall collapse in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A person was killed while his wife and son-in-law suffered critical injuries in wall collapse due to heavy rain at Karumunda in Keonjhar district late last night.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena confirmed the death here today.

Sources said when the family members were in deep sleep, a major portion of the wall of their house collapsed on them at around 12.30 AM. Soon after, all the injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here. While an elderly person, who had suffered critical injuries in the wall collapse, was declared dead by doctors while his wife and son-in-law were undergoing treatment at the hospital till last reports came in.

Meanwhile, over 40 houses at Kulanga village under Gumma block in Gajapati district have been damaged due to landslide following incessant rain last evening, the SRC added.

In another incident, a woman was killed and another person injured when a tree fell on their auto-rickshaw on the main road in Duluri in Kandhamal district. The duo was coming from Daringbadi in the auto-rickshaw when the mishap occurred.
