Heavy rain to lash 10 Odisha districts in next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre today predicted heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Odisha in next 24 hours. As per the forecast, rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts.

The met department further stated thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of the State.

Rainfall activities very likely to continue in these Odisha districts till April 14

While issuing the orange warning, the centre said heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Puri, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts from till 8:30 Am on April 26.

Thunderstorm with lightning and squall wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput and Sundergarh.
Thunderstorm with lightning and hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi and Koraput, the centre added.

The weathermen further said heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal districts.

Thunderstorm with lightning and squall wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. While issuing the orange warning for these districts, the met department said the forecast is valid from 8:30 AM April 26 to 8:30 April 27.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawrangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Bolangir, Koraput, Rayagada.

2. Yellow warning(be updated):
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Nuapada, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2020).

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam.
