Heavy rains disrupt train services in south Odisha

Rayagada, Aug 4:

Heavy and incessant rains triggered by low pressure disrupted train services in the Koraput-Rayagada section of East Coast Railway in south Odisha on Sunday.

Tikiri Station Superintendent said boulders and mounds of mud from the hills came crashing down on the railway tracks between Rauli and Tikiri blocking movement of rail traffic.

Some trains passing through the route had to be cancelled for the day. They wer the Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express, Durg-Jagdalpur Express, Howrah-Sambalpur Express, Samaleswari Express, Sambalpur-Koraput Passenger and Koraput-Visakhapatnam DMU (two ways), the station superintendent said.
