Heavy rains lash Odisha, more to follow

While heavy rains lashed most parts of Odisha over the last two days, the state is likely to receive more rainfall in the next 72 hours, till July 23, under the influence of a low pressure, the local Met office said in a release here this evening.

Cuttack recorded 147 mm rainfall, the highest in the state in the last 24 hours.

“While heavy rainfall in Odisha would continue till July 23, there would be a marginal decrease on July 24 after which the rainfall would increase further in the state from July 25”, the release added.

While Cuttack topped the chart, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours (till 5.30 PM today) was 105.8 mm at Puri followed by Baripada (95.6), Dhenkanal (88), Daringbadi (86), Paradip (78.9), Talcher (60), Bhubaneswar (56.5), Baleswar (56 mm), Keonjhar (43.9), Chandbali (40.7), Malkangiri (37.6), Angul (36.6),Gopalpur (31.6), Bhawanipatna (19), Phulbani (18), Sonepur (14.5),Koraput (13.6) and Sambalpur (10.6 mm).
