High-profile sex racket: Eight Thai girls leave Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Eight Thai girls, who were rescued and then detained for allegedly operating a high-profile sex racket here, left Bhubaneswar today, police said.

Earlier in the day, the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police issued ‘Quit India’ notice to the eight sex workers.

Through the notice, the police had directed them to leave the country by 3:30 pm.

According to police, all the eight girls left Bhubaneswar in a flight from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) this afternoon.

The Commissionerate Police has also informed Home Ministry and Thailand Embassy in this regard.

“Eight Thai girls who had come here violated the Visa rules by getting engaged in flesh trade. While some of them have tourist Visa, the others have business Visa. Following this, they were issued quit-India notice,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahu.

Notably, on May 20, the police had rescued the women and arrested seven others during a raid in H2O spa situated in Bapuji Nagar area of under Capital police station. Some objectionable articles were also seized from the spot.
