HIL: Kalinga Lancers out of semi-final race

Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: The hope of Kalinga Lancers team to make to semi-final round was dashed as they lost to Uttar Pradesh Wizards by 4-3 goals in a thrilling encounter in the Hockey India League (HIL) tournament at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday night.

For UP Wizards, Nithin Thimmaiah scored the first goal in the 8^th minute while his mate Malayalan Gunasekhar scored the second goal in 17^th minute of the match.

Though Lalit Upadhyay of Kalinga Lancers scored the first goal in the 23^rd minute, the UP team dealt another blow when Nithin scored the fourth goal for his team in the 55^th minute.

In the fourth quarter, the Kalinga Lancers bounced back after Gagandeep Singh scored the second goal in the 58^th minute and his mate Peillat Gonzalo scored the third goal through a penalty corner in the 62^nd minute.

With the team level at three goals each, Tushar Khandekar of UP Wizards scored the match winning goal in the 68^th minute.
