Himalayan Black Bear dies in Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: A Himalayan Black Bear died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park today. As per reports, the Himalayan Black Bear named Kulu passed away at the zoo at 3:03 PM.

Kulu was suffering from Tuberculosis and had been under the intensive care since May 17, 2020 under the guidance of Centre for Wildlife Health, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. The Himalayan Black Bear was born in the zoo on December 26, 1995. It has four offsprings, said an official of the zoo.

Normally life span of a Himalayan Black Bear is 25 years.

Following the death of Kulu, two male and three female Himalayan Black Bears are left in the zoo.
