Hockey Champions Trophy: Netherlands drub Argentina 3-0

Netherlands outplayed Argentina by 3-0 goals in the opening Pool B match of the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy which began in the Odisha’s capital city today.

In the third match of the day, the Netherlands launched a series of attacks and got five penalty corners in the first quarter and converted only one goal through Mink van der Weerden in the 12th minute.

The Argentine goalkeeper Manu Brunet had earlier saved a push from Weerden.

Argentina also had a chance when Lucas Vila received a running pass from Matias Paredes, but could not beat Pirmin Blaak in the Dutch goal.

In the second half, the Dutch increased lead when Robbert Kemperman converted a beautiful pass from Sander Baart with a reverse stick strike.

Argentina, who had won the bronze medal at the Rabobank Hockey World Cup, tried their best to get back into the game, but were frustrated by Blaak.

With 11 minutes to go for the final whistle, Diede van Puffelen scored the third goal securing a deserved 3-0 victory.
