Home delivery of liquor allowed during lockdown in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Excise department today allowed home delivery of liquor during the lockdown period which has been in force in the State to prevent spread of coronavirus disease.

The department further stated in a letter to the Excise Commissioner that power has been delegated to District Collectors to take appropriate decision on home delivery of liquor after considering the prevailing situation in their respective districts.

The alcohol home delivery will be done by liquor shops including OFF and ON shops as well as food aggregators during the lockdown period, the letter said.

All depots of the Odisha State Beverage Corporation Ltd (OSBC) will operate for wholesale trade between 6 AM to 2 PM during the lockdown period, it read.

The 14-day state-wide lockdown came into effect from May 5.
