Home guard dies during patrolling as vehicle runs over him in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: An on-duty home guard died as an unidentified vehicle ran over him near Deogaon Chhak under Ghasipura police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, late last night.

The deceased was identified as Suresh Kumar Rout (47) of Tarimula village.

According to reports, the mishap took place when Rout was engaged in patrolling duty. As he tried to stop a goods-laden vehicle, it ran over the home guard, killing him on the spot.

Though police tried to chase and intercept the vehicle, but in vain.

Ghasipura police have recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Efforts were on by cops to trace and nab the vehicle driver.
