Huge cache of explosives seized in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Nov 19:

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel during combing operations today seized a huge cache of explosives and articles used Maoists from Mediguda forested area near Motu in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

BSF personnel seized a three kilo tiffin bomb, six gelatin sticks, plastic bags, two detonators and other articles used by Red rebels, police sources said. Following the seizure combing has been intensified in the area.

Combing operations in the area was launched following intelligence inputs of Maoists planning a major attack on the police, the sources said.

In a related development, security personnel and Maoists exchanged fire in the Beji forested area in Sukma district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

Sources said two Maoists have been killed in the exchange of fire with security personnel. COBRA battalion jawans and Chhattisgarh police raided Beji forested area following intelligence inputs of Maoists holding a camp in the area.

Security personnel have seized huge quantities of articles used by Maoists from the spot, while both sides exchanged fire, sources said.

Combing operations are still on in the area at the time of filing of this report.
