“I Love You Manju”: Prisoner writes wife’s name on palm before ending life in Odisha

Bargarh: An undertrial prisoner allegedly ended his life at the Sohela Jail in Odisha’s Bargarh district today while his wife’s name prefixed with ‘I Love You’ was found written on his palm.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Mohit Rout of Petupali village under Sohela police limits in the district. His body was found hanging with a gamcha at the prison.

A doctor confirmed the death at the Sohela Community Health Centre. The body was sent for post-mortem. An unnatural death case has been registered by police in this connection.

According to reports, Mohit was arrested two days ago for allegedly killing his wife Manju over a dispute pertaining to dowry. He was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody at the Sohela Jail.

Incidentally, Mohit’s name prefixed with ‘I Love You’ was found written on his wife’s hand during the recovery of the woman’s body.
