IAF chopper airdrops food in flood-hit Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: A chopper of the Indian Air Force (IAF) today started air-dropping food packets to the affected people in the flood-hit areas of Odisha’s Rayagada district.

The chopper arrived in Rayagada from Visakhapatnam this morning but couldn’t take-off for around 2 hours due to bad weather. It later flew with relief for the marooned people as weather improved.

On the other hand, the district administration has started serving cooked foods to those taking shelter in schools.

It has also declared closure of schools and colleges for three days in Kalyansinghpur block in view of the flood.

As many as 10 health camps are functioning in Rayagada block and five medical teams providing their services at all relief camps.

Meanwhile, water levels of Kalyani and Nagavali rivers have started to recede leading to improvement in flood situation.
