Bhubaneswar: The newly-formed ICC Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee, formed to uplift women entrepreneurs in both urban and rural areas, held its first leadership summit here last evening.
Around 100 women entrepreneurs from across the state and outside came under one platform at the summit, inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The CM said Odisha has been championing the cause of women empowerment and has encouraged women for their socio-economic empowerment with initiatives like Mission Shakti, Start-up Odisha and Skilled-in-Odisha.
“Odisha has become the first State in the country to get ICC’s first women’s committee for entrepreneurship development. The committee is a diverse group of women entrepreneurs from various sectors, both big and small, who can share, collaborate and grow together to fast pace the ongoing industrial growth in the state,” Patnaik said.
The committee will not only uplift, but also work towards women entrepreneurship in rural areas, said and IWEC ICC Odisha State Council Convenor Sukriti Patnaik.
IWEC ICC Odisha State Council core member Tanaya Patnaik said, “We have formed the committee with 40 women entrepreneurs and leaders and targeted to add 60 more members within a year both from rural and urban areas. Our main focus is to bring more number of rural women entrepreneurs under this fold, mentor them and work towards their upliftment.”
