I’ll follow my father’s footsteps & serve Pipili people: Rudra after filing nomination for by-poll
Pipili: BJD candidate for Pipili by-poll and former MLA late Pradeep Maharathy’s son Rudra Pratap Maharathy, today filed his nomination today.
Accompanied by hundreds of supporters, Rudra reached the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Office in Puri in a huge rally and filed his nomination papers for the by-poll scheduled on April 17.
It was an emotional moment for people of the constituency when Rudra and his sister Pallavi broke down in tears remembering their father before starting the nomination rally from the party office here. Midway, Rudra stopped by Bata Mangala temple and offered prayers to the goddess.
Later, Minister Samir Dash and Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Ray accompanied Rudra to the ADM Office in Puri for filing of nomination.
Rudra said, “My father had always been there for the people of this constituency. I will follow his footsteps and serve the people of Pipili. I hope they will bless and support me for the by-poll.”
People’s faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and their affection for late Pradeep Maharathy will definitely reflect in the by-poll. BJD will win the seat and there is no doubt on this, said MLA Pranab Prakash Das.
Worth mentioning, today is the last date for filing of nomination papers while the nominations will be scrutinized on March 31. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 3.
By-poll to the constituency was necessitated after the demise of Pradeep Maharathy on October 4 last year.
