IMD issues lightning alert for 8 districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar on Sunday issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for eight districts in Odisha.

It advised the people of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Rayagada to stay alert till 4 pm today.

The Met office alerted people in these districts to stay indoors and take shelter in buildings and other safe locations as a precautionary measure.

Notably, more than 45 people have been killed in lightning in the different places of the State in the last fifteen days.
