IMD issues lightning, thunderstorm warning for 24 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a lightning, thunderstorm, and rainfall warning for 24 districts in Odisha.

The districts that have been put on alert are Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Baragarh, Jharsuguda Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore .

The alert issued by the IMD will remain in effect from 6.15 pm to 10 pm.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunder storm with lightning and rainfall likely to occur over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Baragarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore between 6.15 pm to 10.15 pm,” a bulletin issued by the IMD’s regional centre here said.
