IMD predicts fresh spell of rainfall activity in Odisha from August 23

Bhubaneswar: Odisha may witness a fresh spell of rainfall activity from August 23, predicted the IMD regional centre here on Sunday.

As per the prediction, light to moderate rainfall or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and at a few places over the remaining districts from 8.30 am of August 23 to 8.30 am of August 24.

The MeT department has issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore during the period.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada, predicted the MeT department.

The department also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha, Gajapati, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Angul and a few places over the remaining districts within 8.30 am of August 24 and 8.30 am of August 25.

The MeT department has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightening at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Angul and Dhenkanal during the period.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of south interior Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts within 8.30 am of August 25 and 8.30 am of August 26.
