Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha, especially Northern parts of the State will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from tomorrow under the impact of a low pressure area likely to be formed over the Bay of Bengal, the Met office said today.
“Rain/thunder shower likely to occur at many places in the State tomorrow. Moreover, heavy to very rainfall will occur in northern parts of the State such as Bhadark, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal and Sundergarh,” the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
It further said that rain and thundershower is likely to increase after September 05 since there is a possibility of formation of a low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around September 6.
The IMD release further said: “The monsoon is active in Odisha due to formation of a trough stretching from south-east to north-east to the North Bay of Bengal through Varanasi and Patna and a cyclonic circulation formed over North Odisha and neighbourhood which now lies over north-east Jharkhand and neighbourhood extending up to 4.5 km above the sea level. Under its influence, there has been widespread rainfall in the north, coastal and southern districts of the state.”
