Bhubaneswar: Due to Well Marked Low-Pressure Area that lay centered over Southeast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over four districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “The Low-Pressure Area over southeast and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards, became Well Marked Low Pressure Area and lay centered over Southeast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours IST of 21st October, 2023. It is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal by 22nd October. Thereafter, it is very likely to move northnortheastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts and intensify further during subsequent three days.”

Warning for Fishermen:

Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea area of west central Bay of Bengal from 22nd October, over westcentral Bay of Bengal from 23rd October and along and off Odisha coast and North Bay of Bengal during 24th to 26th October 2023. Fishermen whoever in deep sea area advised to return to the coast by 22nd October 2023.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 34.2°C was recorded at Jajpur, Chhatrapur and Malkangiri and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 18.0°C was recorded at Phulbani and Rourkela in the plains of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and dry weather is likely over the rest districts of Odisha.
