Imported cigarettes worth Rs 12 lakh seized at airport in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials today seized around 400 packets of imported cigarettes worth Rs 12 lakhs at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital and detained two persons in this connection for questioning.

According to reports, two passengers of an AirAsia flight were carrying the cigarettes illegally from Kuala Lumpur to Kolkata. The detainees have been identified as two businessmen of Kolkata.

Worth mentioning, several passengers smuggling gold were apprehended at the BPIA in the recent past on different occasions.
