On Saturday, at 7 pm, when the New City Jewellers, located in Ashok Nagar plot no 138,  was full of customers, three women walked into the shop. They then asked the shop assistants to show them various gold jewellery.

The shop assistants were kept busy attending the women and other customers. After some time two men entered the shop and asked for silver showpieces.

They claimed that they did not like any silver ornaments in the shop and asked the shop owner Sumit Sahu to show them something new. Sumit went out of his shop to get more silver ornaments and showpieces. Taking this opportunity they passed off a packet of gold chains to one of the three woman in a yellow sari.

After some time the women walked off the showroom followed by the men.

Later, when the employees went for an assessment of the jewellery in the shop they found that a packet weighing 150 gms of gold chains was missing. The total cost of the stolen ornaments will be around Rs 5 lakhs.

The owner of New City Jewellers showroom near Rajmahal Chowk, Sumit Sahu had reported the theft in Capital police station, yesterday. The police officials after checking the CCTV footage have registered a case of theft.
