India Surf Fest kicks off at Ramchandi in Odisha

Konark, Feb 7:

The fourth edition of India Surf Festival-2015 got off to a colorful start near the Lotus Resort at the confluence of Kushabhadra River and Bay of Bengal near Ramchandi beach on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive of Odisha on Friday.

A total of 72 competitors from countries such as USA, UK, Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Russia, Australia, Indonesia and Portugal are participating in the three-day event being organized by Ranger Adventure Foundation.

While 38 Indian and 34 foreign participants are competing in the event. Apart from the surfers, there are six artists, three photographers and five musicians particpating in the event.

The participants were given a traditional welcome with sandal droplets and bouquet following which they were taken to the sporting venue.

The first day of the three day event witnessed adventure water sports such as stand up paddle boarding (SUP), kite-surfing and parasailing.

The event was inaugurated by state Tourism Minister Ashok Panda in the presence of Kakatput MLA Surendra Sethi, Cuttack MLA Debashis Samantray and Sanjay Samantaray, Founder of India Surf Festival.
