India’s largest strategic petroleum reserve to be set up at Chandikhol

Bhubaneswar: The country’s largest strategic petroleum reserve will come up at Chandikhol in Jajpur district. A discussion was held in connection with this during a meeting between Secretary of Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, Tarun Kapoor, Odisha Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra and officials of the PSU oil marketing companies here today.

The Odisha government assured complete support in setting up the strategic petroleum reserve, said Kapoor.

He further said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has targetted to invest Rs 2,13, 209 crore in 69 projects in Odisha.

A new LPG import facility will be made operational at Paradeep on May 21. Also, two LPG plants are being constructed at Rayagada and Khordha, he informed.

Indian Oil has been constructing petrol, oil and lubricant terminal at Berhampur whereas BPCL has been working on two similar projects at Sadashibpur and Jharsuguda.

He informed Paradeep-Hyderabad pipeline will be operational soon.
